My Hunger

My hunger throbs like a stump.

My hunger pretends to limp.

My hunger has hooks for hands.

My hunger howls beneath an angry man.

My hunger hides behind leather.

My hunger's seen it all, and knows better.

My hunger don't take shit or promises from me.

My hunger wears a low-cut dress

so everyone sees.

My hunger shakes a tin can.

My hunger needs it yesterday.

My hunger licks your face.

Mangy and mateless,

my hunger gobbles chocolates, sunsets,

children, prizes, flame.

My hunger is an animal without a proper name.
