The story of Susan L. Yung’s life: As gentrification encroaches and eradicates areas of old Chinatown starting from Park Row’s middle-class neighborhood to Mott Street’s small businesses, my haunting words will echo among the lowly Lower East Side, redefining its struggles as the next generation deals with the new recession of unemployment, scapegoating, glass ceilings, inflationary rent increases, lack of labor skills, and lack of artists reflecting a minorities’ subculture, which is not the American dream.
